Feeding cows in late lactation and dry period

Cow should be fed a well-balanced ration during pregnancy period for the following purpose

  • Maintenance of the cow.
  • Growth of the animal if she is a pregnant heifer.
  • Growth of the foetus.
  • For production of colostrum when she calves next and
  • Forming sufficient reserves of nutrients in the body of the cow for the ensuring lactation.
  • From 7.5 months to 10 months of lactation cows may be fed 1-2 kg concentrate fed in addition to maintenance and production requirement.
  • During this period fed only good quality green fodder
  • Challenge feeding, 2 weeks before the expected date of calving.
  • Provide enough amount of minerals

 

Feeding breeding bull

  • They should be fed quality roughage and sufficient concentrate to keep them thrifty, but not fat.
  • 2-3 kg concentrate mixture containing 13-15 % protein should be supplied daily.
