Suspension culture

  • Suspension culture is a type of culture in which single cells or small aggregates of cells multiply while suspended in agitated liquid medium.
  • It is also referred to as cell culture or cell suspension culture.
  • It is of two types:

A) Batch culture:

  • Batch culture is a technique used to grow microorganisms under limited nutrient availability in a closed system

B) Continuous or mass culture:

  • Continuous culture is a technique used to grow microorganisms under optimum and continual supply of nutrients in an open system in industries.
