Field preparation

• Four to five ploughings and levelling of land is needed
  Raised beds are preferred to flat beds

a) Raising seedlings

• Raise the bed to 15cm height
• 2 m x 1 m is enough for raising seedlings for one ropani of land
• Seeds are sown in a line 8-10cm
• Mulching after seed sowing
• Irrigate immediately
• Seed rate- 20-25 gm/ropani

b) Spacing

• Depends on cultivar
• Pusa Ruby (60 x 60), Pusa Early Dwarf ( 60 x 60), Roma (60 x 45), Monprecos (75 x 60)

c) Manuring and Fertilizer

• Compost- 2000 kg/Ropani, NPK- 10:10:7.5,
• Application- Compost and 50% N, PK as basal dose, 25% after one month of transplanting and 25% during two month of transplanting
