Harvesting
- Cumin matures in about 100-150 days of seed sowing
- When seed matures, the whole plant turns brownish yellow
- The plants are uprooted or cut with sickle
Threshing and Cleaning
- After harvesting, small bundle are made.
- Spreaded on threshing floor till they dry properly
- Seeds are threshed with sticks
Cleaning, Drying and Storage
- After threshing, the product is cleaned and winnowed carefully
- Chaff, small seeds, clods are removed
- Seeds are dried in the sun for 2-3 days
- The dried seeds are packed in sacks and stored in dry rooms
- Seed yield: – 4 – 6qts/hac.
