Introduction

• There are two basic ways in which soil erosion may be controlled:

a) By minimizing the effects of rainfall impact on the soil surface.

b) By minimizing the volume and/or velocity of run-off water.

• The reduction of the downward movement of slope material can be reached by applying different approaches:

a) Living approach

b) Nonliving approach (Civil engineering techniques)
