Factors maintaining blood sugar:
The blood glucose level depends upon the balance between glucose entry and leaving the extracellular fluid.
Factors increasing the blood sugar:
- Absorption of sugar from intestine
- Glycogenolysis
- Gluconeogenesis
- Hyperglycemic hormones like glucagon, steroid hormones etc.
Factors decreasing blood sugar:
- Utilization by tissues for energy
- Glycogen synthesis
- Conversion of glucose into fat
- Hypoglycemic hormones.
Note: remember the function of individual hormones how they effect blood glucose level.
