Factors maintaining blood sugar:

The blood glucose level depends upon the balance between glucose entry and leaving the extracellular fluid.

Factors increasing the blood sugar:

  1. Absorption of sugar from intestine
  2. Glycogenolysis
  3. Gluconeogenesis
  4. Hyperglycemic hormones like glucagon, steroid hormones etc.

Factors decreasing blood sugar:

  1. Utilization by tissues for energy
  2. Glycogen synthesis
  3. Conversion of glucose into fat
  4. Hypoglycemic hormones.

Note: remember the function of individual hormones how they effect blood glucose level.
