EIS Preparation: Steps to be followed:
a) Screening: The process of screening is used to determine whether an EIA is required. Thus, this stage also determines, if an EIS is required, or if another form of reporting would be adequate.
b) Scoping: This step of this step is to both identify the likely environmental effects/impact of the proposed activity and the level to which each of these will be investigated.
c) Prediction: The prediction stage is used to provide an estimate, or forecast, of the likely impacts/ effects of the proposed activity/proposal on the environment.
d) Evaluation: The evaluation phase of preparing an EIS compares all the likely impacts that the activity/proposal may have on the environment.
e) Reducing Impacts:
f) Monitoring: This stage determines the type and level of monitoring required, should a proposed activity be approved, to determine the accuracy of the predictions determined.
g) Conclusion: The material gained throughout the preparation of the EIS are compared and analyzed to determine the likely environmental impacts of the proposed activity, the alternatives, and recommendations as to the future of the proposal (including the option of the proposal not going ahead).
