Monitoring and evaluation indicators

A. Monitoring Indicators

a. Input indicators:

  • This kind of information is gleaned from accounting and management records and is necessary for benefit cost analysis.
  • Eg: Resources whether financial or physical or other provided?

 

b. Process indicators:

  • Change in the process of implementing the particular activities
  • For example:
  1. Has been the construction materials are available on time?
  2. Number of labors employed per day for construction of canal.

 

c. Output indicators:

  • Used to judge whether or not specific project goals are being achieved and are expressed as numbers.
  • For example:
  1. Number of farmers trained
  2. Number of farmers provided inputs

 

d. Outcome indicators:

  • Measure the result of output.

 

B. Evaluation indicators:

a. Impact indicators:

  • Impact indicators are used to measure the long-term effect of projects or sectoral activities. Change in the situation of before and after.

For example:

  1. Child mortality before and after the project
  2. Number of galvanized roofing materials in a village in 10 years interval

 

 

b. Quantitative indicators:

  • Deals with the numeric values and easy to measure, For example:
  • Marketing of vegetable in MT after intervention of project
  • Number of farmers trained in agriculture service center

 

c. Qualitative indicators:

  • Assess the change in behavior, attitudes knowledge and practice. Qualitative indicators are difficult to measure.
  • For example:
  1. Increase of participation of women in CFUG assembly
  2. Change in health condition of women
