Subgroups of Baculoviridae

Baculoviridae had 3 subgroups

i. Nuclear polyhedrosis (nucleopolyhedrosis) viruses (NPVs)

  • Virus after enter on insect attack on midgut cell, break the cell of midgut cell and release to haemolymph.
  • Insect turn into milky or white color and insects show less appetite, climbing away, far away from food.
  • It is used to control alfalfa Caterpillar, cabbage looper, tobacco caterpillar, and Gram pod borer, and soybean looper, Diamondback month.

 

ii. Granulosis viruses (GVs)

  • It is used to control Potato tuber month, Codling moths etc.

 

iii. Nuclear viruses (NOVs): non-occulated rod shaped
