Constraints of MAPS cultivation in Nepal

• Lack of quality standards and certification for Nepali MAPs products, which limits their access to high-value markets and reduces their competitiveness.
• Limited availability of planting materials and cultivation techniques for high-demand MAPs species, which leads to overexploitation of wild resources and degradation of natural habitats.
• Weak coordination and collaboration among different stakeholders along the MAPs value chain, such as collectors, traders, processors, exporters, government agencies, research institutions, and civil society organizations.
• Insufficient policy support and incentives for MAPs sector development, such as tax exemptions, subsidies, credit facilities, insurance schemes, and market information systems.
