Soil and Climate
- Jackfruit can be grown on a wide variety of soils but, it is grown well in a rich, deep, alluvial and well-drained soil.
- It can grow on an open textured or lateritic soil provided sufficient nutrients are available.
- It grows well in a warm, humid climate up to an elevation of 1500 msl.
- Growth will be retarded if rainfall is less than 1000 mm.
- It is grown on a variety of soils: deep alluvial, sandy loam, or clay loam of medium fertility, Calcareous or lateritic soil, shallow limestone or stony soil with a pH of 5.0-7.5.
- The tree exhibits moderate tolerance to saline soils.
