Soil and Site

➢ 5.5 to 6.5 plot with clay to sandy loam soil is desirable.

➢ Soil should have adequate water holding capacity and should be rich in organic matter.

➢ Gladiolus prefers sunny situation throughout the life span, i.e. a land having south and east exposure with emission of uninterrupted sun light should be selected.

 

Planting Time

➢ In Chitwan condition, September to February 1st week is desirable. Sometimes, September and February planting may also unfavorable.

➢ In general, February to September planting is suitable in mid –hill region (1200m to 2000 m).
