Infectious Brusal disease (IBD)
- Also known as Gumboro disease or AIDS of birds
- Acute, highly contagious, viral infection of chicken
- Seen only in chicken > 3 weeks
- Inflammation and pecking of vent
a) Etiology:
- IBD virus
b) Transmission:
- Faeco-oral route
- Fomites
c) Signs and symptoms:
- Feathers around vent are stained by faeces
- Pecking of vent
- Ruffled feathers
- Trembling and shivering
- Sit quiet with closed eye
- Loss of appetite
- Whitish diarrhea
d) Treatment:
- Dehydration therapy with oral fluid and electrolyte
- Multivitamins
- Biosecurity and farm disinfection
- Sterilization of equipment
- Dead birds disposed
- Vaccination
