Ringworm

• Sin disease of cattle
• Caused by Trichophyton verrucosum ; a spore forming fungi
• Direct contact is most common way of spread of disease

a) Symptoms:

• Grey-white areas on skin with ash like surface
• Circular in outline and slightly raised
• Lesions found around eyes, on ears, on back, chest and legs

b) Treatment and prevention:

• Application of medication directly on lesions
• Scrapping or brushing the crusts
• Clean and disinfect the environment
• Vaccination
• Increased exposure to sunlight
• Reducing stocking density
