Wings modification

1. Elytron :

• Thickened, weathery wing.
• Eg: Beetle.

2. Hemelytron:

• Partly thickened forewing with distal portion membranous.
• Eg: Bug

3. Halter :

• Rudimentary
• Eg: Flies and mosquitoes

4. Fringed :

• Long hair present.
• Eg: Thrips

5. Membranous:

• More or less transparent wing.
• Eg Dragon flies

6. Scaly:

• Fore and hind wing covered with scales or setae
• Eg: Butterflies and moth.

7. Tegmen:

• Parchment like
• Eg: Grasshopper and cockroach.

Note:

• Hooks present in  anterior margin of hind wing of honey bee  is called  
• Opaque spot on coastal margin of both pairs of wings of dragon flies and damsel flies is called
