Introduction:
- In Nepal Broad leaf mustard commonly known as ‘Rayo’, occupies first position in term of hectare and production among the leafy vegetables.
- It is widely adapted and can be grow from terai to the hills.
- It is rich in Vit. A, B, C and E and iron, calcium and protein
- It can be used in lean period by curing and making “Gundruk”. It has high nutritional and economic importance.

- The flower is yellow and the flower is complete containing 6 androecium, 1 gynoecium.
- It can be cross pollinated from one variety to another variety but cannot be cross pollinated from one genus to another genus like cauli, turnip,etc.
- Seed is brown, yellow in color.
