Harvesting and yield
- Carrot should be harvested at the proper stage of maturity otherwise over matured roots become fluffy and unfit for consumption.
- Early Carrots for market are pulled out when partly developed.
- A light irrigation before harvesting facilitates root lifting.
- After harvesting the roots should be washed and cleaned.
Yields
- Vary from varieties and growing condition
- The European varieties are known to give an average yield of about 10-15 ton/ha.
- Asiatic varieties are known to give a yield of about 25-30 ton/ha.
Storage
- It can be stored under room temperature for 3 – 4 days.
- It can be stored for 3-4 months in cold storage at 0 -4 o C and 93 – 98 % R.H.
