Cotton

- Tropical, short day and sun loving plant.
- Seed cake contain 40% protein.
- Fuzz: Consists short unconvoluted hair.
- Lint: Long convoluted hair
- Seed of cotton are prepared by ginning (Mechanical separation of long fiber) and delinting (removal of fuzz).
- Desiccation: dehydration of tissues. Done after 2-3 weeks of defoliation.
- Gossypol : Volatile poisonous phenolic compound of which kernel contains 0.4-2%.

Types of branching in cotton
- Monopoidal : Bears only leaf but no flowers.
