Curing

• Drying, decomposition of chlorophyll until green color disappears from the leaf.

a) Air curing: In cigar tobacco, Burley and Maryland.

b) Flue curing: In Virginia tobacco.

c) Fire curing

d) Sun curing

• For high quality cigarette = flue curing
• Low quality, inferior and chewing : rack, ground sun and pit curing.
