Some terminologies
- Agalactia: Failure to secrete milk following parturition.
- Blind quarter: Mammary gland quarter that doesn’t secrete milk.
- Double toned milk: Min. 1.5% fat and 9% SNF.
- Edema: Presence of large amount of fluid in the intercellular spaces of body.
- Galactopoiesis: Maintenance of lactation.
- Ice cream: Contains permitted stabilizers and emulsifiers not exceeding 0.5% by weight.
- Milk: Lacteal secretion excluding 15 days before or 5 days after calving.
- Pasteurization: Heating milk @ 630C for 30 min. or 720C for 15 min.
- Standardized milk: Min. 4.5% fat and 8.5% SNF.
- Toned milk: 3% fat and 8.5% SNF.
- Double toned milk: 1.5% fat and 9% SNF.
