Terminologies

  1. Tergum / Dorsum : Top or upper side of the body.
  2. Notum : In case of thorax, tergum is called notum. Notum is divided into pronotum, mesonotum and metanotum collectively called metanota.
  3. Sternum/ Venter: Lower or underside of body.
  4. Pheuron/ pleura: Lateral portion of the body.
  5. Meson: Longitudinal central line of body.
  6. Proximal portion : Part near to body
  7. Distal potion: Part away from body.
