Correlation

a. When to use it?

  • When you want to know the relation or association between two continuous variables.
  • For eg: Food intake and weight.

 

b. What does it tell us?

  • If a linear relationship exists between two variables and how strong that relationship is.
  • Ranges from -1 to + 1.

 

Note:

i) 0-0.25 : little or no relation

ii) 0.25-0.5 : fair degree of relation

iii) 0.5-0.75 : Moderate relation

iv) 0.75-1 : strong relation

v) 1: perfect relation

vi) – 1 : perfect relation
