Types of event sampling

a. Signal contingent:

• Random beeping notifies participants to record data.

b. Event contingent:

• Records data when certain events occur.

c. Interval contingent:

• Records data according to the passing of a certain period of time.

Disadvantages of event sampling

• Invasive and intrusive
• Often leads to self-selection bias.
• All participant mayn’t cooperate
• Highly vulnerable to common method variance
