Action Plan for Water Resource Management

1. Policy: Encouraging Watershed Protection Measures to reduce soil erosion and downstream sedimentation.

Actions:

a. Reassess the efficiency and effectiveness of structural techniques of watershed protection, particularly, river training schemes.

b. Promotion of low-cost vegetative and cultural techniques for watershed protection based on farmer’s participation.

c. Integration of programmes of soil fertility and forest management with water protection measures.

 

2. Policy: Ensure major watersheds are protected adequately

Action: Developing the management plans of Nepal’s Key Watersheds.
