Eucalyptus (Masala) Eucalyptus camaldulensis
- It is native of Australia, and has many species.
- Successfully grown up to 1700 meters altitude in Nagarkot.
- Almost all eucalyptus are evergreen.
- Have light shading effects to under-storey crops.
- It can not tolerate shade.
- Fast growing species.
- Many eucalyptus in Australia produce high quality sawn timber, but in Nepal it produces medium quality timber and fire wood.
- It is now used for making electric poles after treatment.
- Cross-pollination occurred in eucalyptus. Therefore, seeds should not be collected from trees growing with other eucalyptus species.
- Seeds can be stored 1-5 years in sealed containers.
- Seeds are very small, and therefore, it is sown in tray or mother beds. Young seedlings with 2 leaves emergence will be transplanted in polybags.
- Regular weeding is in weed problem areas.
- Boron deficiency can be reduced using borax fertilizer.
- Intensively managed eucalyptus plantation produced up to 40 m3/ha annually.
