Egg drop syndrome

• Viral disease of poultry
• Characterized by production of thin shell and shell less eggs
• All age are susceptible

a) Etiology:

• Avian adeno virus

b) Transmission:

• Through contaminated egg
• Faeces

c) Symptoms:

• Loss of color in pigmented egg
• Thin shell, soft shell or shell less egg
• Fall in egg production

d) Diagnosis:

• Symptoms and lesions
• Serological test
• Electron microscopy

e) Differential diagnosis:

• IB, Vita. A deficiency, Calcium and Vit. D deficiency

f) Treatment:

• Vaccination
• Isolation
• Sanitary procedure
• Contaminated water must be chlorinated
• Regular checkup
