Infectious bronchitis

  • Viral disease of poultry caused by corona virus.
  • Characterized by sneezing, coughing, respiratory rales, deposition of urates in kidney, etc.

Infectious Bronchitis Disease – How to diagnose

a) Etiology:

  • Adeno virus

 

b) Symptoms:

  • Sneezing, coughing, respiratory rales and dyspnoea
  • Drop in egg production
  • Watery discharge from eye and nostrils
  • Thin and watery yolk
  • Thin shelled eggs

 

c) Diagnosis:

  • Symptoms and lesions
  • Immunological test
  • Isolation and identification of virus

 

 

d) Transmission:

  • Incubation period is 18-36 hours
  • Inhalation and ingestion
  • Aerosol, faeces, contaminated feed

 

e) Treatment and prevention:

  • Antibiotics for 3-5 days
  • Employ warm and moist mash
  • Raise the temperature of brooder
  • Vaccination
