Dry bed method and bed method :

                      The major difference between these methods are methods of seed bed preparation and seed treatment (incubation). Both the method have both advantage and disadvantage comparitevely.

Dry bed method

Wet bed method

Conditions

Practiced in area where there is deficiency of irrigation water.

Practiced in area where irrigation water is available easily and soil are wet.

Tillage

2-8 times ploughing and planking

2-3 times ploughing an planking followed by puddling.

Seed incubation

Seed incubation is not necessary

Seed incubation is preferred were seed are soaked in water and left for sprouting.

Seed type

Dry seed are used for seedling

Sprouted seed are used for seedling.
