Harvesting and threshing :

  • Early harvesting cause difficult in operating combine harvester , resulting in mechanical damage of the seed.
  • Late harvesting cause loss due to shattering and lodging.
  • Physiological maturity : maximum dry matter accumulation in the seed , 80% grains in the panicle are matured .
  • Harvesting maturity : Moisture content of the seed is reduced .90% of the grains in the panicle are matured.
  • Harvestable maturity is best stage for harvesting crop for grain purpose.
