Healthy seed selection by floating method :
- If farmers select their own seed , seed should be healthy and bold seed.
- Materials used : water , salt , seed , beaker.
- Add 500 gm salt in 3 liters of water and stir for a minute.
- Add a kilogram of seed in salt water , stir for a minute and leave for a minute.
- We can increase the quantity of salt and water as per the quantity of seed.
- We can see chaffy and partially filled seed floating on surface of water which should be discarded.
- We can see healthy and bold seed in bottom of beaker which should be used as seed material.
- Salt solution can be reused for 2-4 times .
- Clean the healthy seed 2-3 times with fresh water and spread it on shady area for drying.
