Sowing :
- Broadcast the seed uniformly throughout the bed and cover it with thin layer of soil in case of dry bed.
- In line sowing maintain row distance of 10 cm.
Seedling raising for rice transplanting
- Transplanting rice with transplanter is a mechanical method of transplanting that address major issue of rice production i.e. labour shortage.
- Seedling raising by this is technical task and is difficult for farmers.
- So, community based seedling raising has been considered as better option to address the problem.
Major operations in land preparation
- Application of FYM or compost @10-15 t/ha.
- One deep summer tillage by use of MB plogh , local plough or cultivator expose and kill weeds and insect pests.
- Flood water in field a week prior to transplanting.
- Puddling : 1-2 times ploughing of flooded field by planking.
- Bond preparation : 30 cm height.
- Application of basal dose of fertilizer and pre-emergence herbicide.
- Final planking a day prior to transplanting.
