Introduction

Plasma contains many functional enzymes and they are involved in various metabolic activities. But there are also some non functional enzymes in plasma which come out from the cells of tissues and organs due to normal wear and tear. Their normal levels in blood are very low but are increased very much during disease and cell death. Therefore, assays of these enzymes are very useful in diagnosis of diseases.
