Pancreatic disease:
The most common disorder seen in pancreas in animal is pancreatitis. Since the pancreas helps in secrecting the enzymes involved in the digestion of foods, any defect of pancreas can lead to digestive disorders.
The pancreatitis can be of two types:
- Acute pancreatitis: it is commonly associated with the gall stone and the inflammation of pancreas is seen. It is the initial phase of pancreatitis. This can be seen by measuring the blood amylase and lipase. Amylase gets increased for few days during this condition and again decreases whereas lipase increases for longer periods.
- Chronic pancreatitis: It is the chronic state of pancreatitis and it can lead to malabsorption. Especially steatorrhea is seen during this condition.
