Harvesting
- Jute can be harvested any time before flowering between 120-150 days.
- Ideal stage of harvesting is when plants are either in flowering or in under capsule stage (small pod stage) viz. 135-140 DAS.
- Harvesting is done by cutting plants close to the soil surface with sickle.
- If stems are to be water retted, plants are tied into separate bundles of 18-20cm diameter and left in the field for 2-4 days.
