Seed treatment

• The seeds are treated with the thiamethoxin@600ml/100kg seed(Luciana RegiaLaxen et.al) which increase the chlorophyll content during the development of cotton plants.
• Also, 10gm of Cerasan or 0.5g of streptomycin in 10liter of water is used to prevent the primary infection.

Seed rate

1. American cotton: 15-23 kg/ha
2. Desi cotton: 10-18 kg/ha
3. Nepal Condition: 20-25 kg/ha
4. Hybrids : 2.5 kg/ha

Seed spacing

1. American cotton: 60*45 cm
2. Desi cotton: 60*30 cm
3. Nepali condition: 90*20 cm

Seed depth

• Humid: 2.5-4
• Dry: 3-8
• Nepal: 4-5cm

Sowing method

• Done by using bullock or tractor drilling the seeds in rows or by dibbling.
• Ridge and furrow method is also practiced.

Gap filling

• Gaps due to incomplete germination should be immediately filled
• by dibbling water soaked for quick germination. In case of excess seedling, weak, diseased or damaged should be thinned out retaining robust and strong plants.
