Water management
- Sugarcane being a long duration crop producing huge amounts of biomass is classed among those plants having a high-water requirement and yet it is drought tolerant.
- The water requirement is about 2000-3000mm.
- Sugarcane consumes 200 tonnes of water to produce 1 ton sugarcane.
- Tillering phase and grand growth is critical from moisture point of view.
