Protection rules and Acts
a. Plant Protection Rules, 2066 (2010)
Date of publication in Nepal Gazette 2066/12/09 (22 March 2010). After being Nepal as member of WTO the plant protection act 2029 and Rules 2031 is not functional and another plant protection Act 2064 and Rules 2066 is implemented.
b. Seeds Act, 2045 (1988)
Date of the Royal Seal and the Publication is 2045-7-10 B.S. (26 Oct 1988 A.D.) Prohibition on sale of seeds treated with pesticides is the Seeds treated with pesticides shall not be sold for other purpose except for the Agricultural Activities and for the purpose as prescribed.
c. Pesticide Act, 2048 (1991)
According to Pesticide Act, 2048 (1991) Pestide define as ‘Pesticides shall mean the poisonous chemicals (pesticides) used for killing or destroying the harmful pests that appear in seeds, plants, trees, animals, fowls etc.
d. Sanitary and phytosanitary measures
WTO established on 1 January, 1995 and Nepal became the 147th member of WTO from 23rd April, 2004 (Baishak 11, 2061).
