Approximate method

In this method, probable cost is determined without drawing simply by comparing same type of building in the given locality and it is of 2 types:

I. Plinth area estimation

  • The cost is determined per m2 by comparing with the similar type of building in the same locality by estimating cost per m2 of that building.

Eg. If a building is constructed in locality,

  • Cost of a building, (P) = Rs. 75, 00,000
  • Plinth area of building (A) = 500 sq m
  • Cost per sq m. of the building = 7500000/ 500 = Rs. 1500 / m2
  • If you need for n m2 the, Cost =Rs. 1500 x n

II. Volume / Cubic meter estimation

  • Not only the area of building represents its cost but building height differs the cost of building then, cubic meter method is used.

Eg. If 3 storey building height is 10 m and that building is constructed in area of 500 m2.

  • The building cost = Rs. 7500000
  • Volume of building = 500 x 10 = 5000 m3 Cost for 1m3 = 7500000/5000 = Rs.1500
  • If the height of building is Vm3 then, Cost of building = Rs V x 1500
