Avoiding aspects in the farmstead selection/ Precautions:

Farmstead should not be constructed in unstable soil as landslide may cause severe damage.
It shouldn’t be constructed in prone, accidental areas like river banks (flooding). It should not be constructed in the waterlogged areas.
It should not be constructed in filled area, as filled area has low load bearing capacity so building may be collapsed.

Types of farmstead:

1) Compact farmstead: it is safe under existing socio economic condition and they are kept constant by the supervision under farmers and owners. It may be of two types as small size and medium size.

2) Loose type: These type are large farm house and generally constructed for commercial purposes. This type of farmstead can be extended according to need of owner.
