Phases of establishment

• The appearance phase is dependent on the temperature and moisture at the soil surface.
• Eastablishment of seedlings is dependent on the weather, competition and grazing management.

Time of broadcasting

• Broadcasting of seed is usually undertaken before the commencement of rain so that plant can establishment during the rainy season.
• If the soil surface is too wet or too dry; germination is decreased.
