Harvest index
- Harvest index (HI) is a measure of the proportion of total dry matter of a crop that represents economic yield.
- It is often reported as a percentage.
i.e. HI = economical yield/ biological yield
Absolute and relative growth rate
- It is the simplest measure of rate of increase in plant size, and is defined as increase in weight per unit time ( g DM/day).
- A more useful measure is the proportional or percentage change in plant size per unit time, known as relative growth rate (R).
