Major concerns and scope of fodder

  • Nepal, annually send more than Rs 1000 crore to buy meat from India.
  • The animal output is very low in Nepal. Average milk production of Nepal indigenous cattle is estimated 880 liter/cow/year, whereas of buffalo is 1158 liter/buffalo/year.
  • The tenth Five-year Plan targeted to achieve 303,000 MT meat and 1,154,000 MT respectively.
