Some terminologies

a) Agroclimate: It is defined as the total of climatic conditions rendering possible economic cultivation of plant species expressed either in their value of intensity, duration, frequency and moment of occurrence, or in the value of their integral effects upon living organisms and soil. In brief, agroclimate denotes the climatic requirements in relation to the agricultural production.

b) Agroclimatic index A measure or indicator of an aspect of the climate that has specific agricultural significance. It is the quantitative relationship between climate and agricultural production i.e. the values of agroclimate are expressed in agroclimatic indices.

c) Agroclimatic regionalization: It is a scientific method or process of delineating the climatically homogenous areas and evaluating the suitability of the crops on those areas after the full detail analysis of the climate requirement of those crops. It is useful for planning a uniform agricultural development and designing most profitable cropping pattern. It also helps in specializing farm production and in determining agronomic and cultural practices.

d) Crop zonation: In brief, it is the process of distinguishing the area into different zones and classifying them according to the suitability of different crops after the detail analysis of the climatic condition of that area and matching it with the climatic requirement for different crops.
