Mountain niches or comparative advantages

  • A niche is a very specific segment of eco-space occupied by single species.
  • In ecology a niche or comparative advantage is a term describing the relational position of species or population in an ecosystem.
  • The niche describes the relative position in which an organism lives as well as the roles it plays in that habitat.
  • More formally, the niche includes how a population responds to the abundance of its resources and enemies and how it affects those some factors.
  • The abiotic or physical environment is also part of niches because it influences how population affects and are affected by resources and enemies.
