Constraints of Ornamental horticulture in Nepal

• Lack of quality planting materials of desired export varieties
• Lack of proper agro-techniques of production and research support activities
• Lack of trained manpower and training facilities
• Infrastructure lacking –Cold store, refrigerated transportation, air flight etc.
• Lack of direct air-service and exorbitant air freight to important flower importing and marketing countries such as Holland.
• Non-availability of cold storage and cool rooms facilities at the airport to store live plants in case of flight delays.
• Lack of quality and price standard for flori-products
• Absence of organized marketing channels and monitoring system
• A clear-cut national policy on floriculture development is lacking.
