Chemical control:
- The use of chemical (Pesticide) to kill, deter, change behavior, impair sterility of influence pest for control purpose is called chemical control.
Genetic control method of insects:
- Genetic control refers to employment of an insect to destroy its own kind or self-destruction of the species.
- WHO defined as genetic control as “any condition or treatment which can reduce the reproductive potential of noxious pest by altering or replacing the heredity materials”.
- This is also referred as autocidal control, sterile insect release method (SIRM), sterile male technique (SMT) and most commonly used as sterile insect technique (SIT).
