Fecundity

  • Refers to number of eggs contained in the ovary prior to spawning period.
  • Can be categorized into two groups, absolute and relative.
  • Absolute fecundity is the total number of eggs in the ovary of an individual fish.
  • Relative fecundity is the number of ripe eggs per kilogram weight of female fish.
