Turbidity management in fish pond

  • Fertilize the pond periodically to maintain plankton turbidity.
  • Remove some of the pond water and add new clear water to reduce all types of turbidity.
  • Use positively charged electrolytes such as aluminum sulfate @ 5-10 mg/L, Copper Sulphate @0.5 mg/L, and calcium sulfate @500 kg/ha to reduce turbidity caused by the suspended particles of silts and clay.
  • Lime the pond @500 kg/ha to prevent acidic condition due to humic substances.
  • Add 15 to 22 bales of hay per hectare or a 3:1 mixture of cottonseed meal and superphosphate at 110 kg/ha.
