Cultivation practices

a. Field Preparation

  • 3-4 ploughing followed by repeated harrowing and leveling is done.
  • If BLM is cultivated during rainy season, ridge of 15-20 c.m and bed of 120 cm width and length as per land available is prepared to protect the crop from heavy rain.
  • But during winter/normal season cultivation, flat bed is prepared.
  • The basal dose of manure (FYM/Compost) and fertilizer are applied at the time of final land preparation,

 

b. Spacing: Row to row =30 cm

                   Plant to plant=10 to 15 cm

  • Seed rate =600 gm per hectare
  • Manure and Fertilizer Requirements : varies with season of cultivation, soil types and
  • climates, it should be based on soil test report
  • FYM/Compost Kg/Rop ,NPK Kg/Ropani are 1000-1500 kg/ropani (20-30 ton FYM/Compost per hectare) and 5:2:2 Kg/Ropani (100: 40:40 Kg/Ha) respectively.
