Field Preparation
- 3-4 ploughing followed by repeated harrowing and leveling is done.
- If cauliflower is cultivated during rainy season, ridge of 15-20 c.m and bed of 120 cm width and length as per land available is prepared to protect the crop from heavy rain.
- But during winter/normal season cultivation, flat bed is prepared.
- The basal dose of manure (FYM/Compost) and fertilizer are applied at the time of final land preparation.
Manure and Fertilizer Application
- Half amount of nitrogen and full amount of FYM/Compost, P2O5 and K2O should be applied as basal dose at time of transplanting and out of remaining two splits of nitrogen is applied, first half splits of N2, is side dressed after one months of transplanting and remaining half splits of N2 is side dressed at curd initiation stage,
- Light soil with low OM and heavy rain have shown micro nutrient deficiency, especially boron (browning problem) , molybdenum (whiptail problem), zinc, manganese which cause tremendous reduction in yield.
- It is advisable to apply 10-15 kg Borax and 1-1.5 kg sodium or ammonium molybdate per hectare as basal dose application
- 1 Kg Agromin or Tracil as basal application is applied at final land preparation.
